School days, school days
So at the tender age of 33 (nearly 34 but give me these last couple weeks dammit!) I have returned to school. Not a university though - I am going to the Ogle School for Hair, Skin and Nails. Que the “Beauty School Dropout” choruses from Greece. I’ll be getting my Esthetician license in early May. In case you don’t know what an Esthetician does - we do all your ‘spa’ treatments. Facials, waxing, microderm abrassion, chemical peels, make-up, eyebrow/eyelash tinting, eyelash extensions - all the things that keep your skin looking young and vibrant and healthy and make you feel fantastic.
This is something I’d thought about doing a long time ago and it was just never a good time. Now though it’s perfect and I’ve completed my first week. It’s weird going back to school though. I have a locker and homework and tests and I find myself giggling sometimes because I’m having to get back into the right mindset. But I seem to be doing well. Made it through my first week with flying colors. Was told by my instructor that I was going to make SUCH (her caps not mine) a good esthetician and she even told one of my ‘clients’ that as well. Even aced my first test - on sanitation, bacteria, and skin analysis. Would have made a 100 if I’d not second guessed myself on one of the questions and changed it.
So all in all - good week so far! If you’re in the Dallas area and want to be one of my ‘models’ (in other words let me practice on you at the school) let me know!
